"He who testifies to these things says, 'Surely I am coming quickly.' Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” ~Revelation 22:20
The Bible ends with Jesus’ words in red when He speaks His final promise to all mankind. And that wraps it all up; the whole story ends with this final promise, the promise that Jesus is coming back!
"Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.” ~Revelation 1:7
"Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” ~Mark 13:26
But how can we know this will really happen, that Jesus will indeed come back to earth? Do you think for one minute, with every other prophecy of the Bible playing out to be true, that this one would be any less true? Jesus is coming, we know not the day nor the hour, but He is coming, and every eye will see Him and know that He is God.
"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” ~Philippians 2:10-11
How can we be ready? What must we do? We know we can’t earn our way to heaven by our good deeds, that’s not to say we shouldn't do good, it’s only to say we can’t ever do good enough. Our best efforts are the equivalent of a pile of filthy old clothes in comparison to God’s perfect robe of righteousness. On our own, we will never be able to go to heaven! Only those that know they need saving, those that do good and rejoice and wait for Him to return will be ready.
"For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned—in these ways we continue; and we need to be saved. But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” ~Isaiah 64:5-6
There is only one way to ensure our eternal life, and the is through accepting what Jesus did on the cross for you. There’s no other way that we will enter eternity, no other gateway to heaven, only Jesus.
"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” ~John 14:6
But why is Jesus coming back…?
Jesus said: “I will come again and receive you to Myself.” Jesus is coming for us; He’s returning to the earth to take his saints, all believers, to Heaven to spend a thousand years with Him. And then He’s going to re-create the earth and live with us here on that new earth for all eternity!
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know." ~John 14:1-4
So, I’ll ask you again . . . are you ready?
It’s really very easy, all we need to do to get ready for His soon return is to accept this free gift, take off our filthy sin-filled rags, and put on Jesus’ robe of righteousness. This expression simply means, accept what He did to redeem us. Jesus died so that we can live eternally. It’s a trade, we give up the filthy, sinful old us, and become the new improved version of ourselves. Through the empowerment that comes along with this trade, we will be empowered to become that person God created us to be. We can die to self, to the sinful flesh, and live for Jesus and this glorious day of His soon return.
"He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on Him." ~John 3:36
We all have a choice to make, do we accept Jesus as our Savior or not? There are no second chances when it comes to this choice, if we choose to reject this offer of eternal life, we have chosen eternal death.
"And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt." ~Daniel 12:2
Yes, we must choose—there are only two possible conditions upon Christ’s return—we are either alive forever, or dead forever
"But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." ~Matthew 10:33
If we reject Him, He will reject us, not because He wants to, but because He won’t force us to do anything. We have free will, even to our own destruction. God will never take our freedom to choose from us, never, even if it means our eternal death.
"He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him, the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day." ~John 12:48
You can be ready for that last day, the day of the Lord, all you have to do is make a choice. Make your choice now while you still can because soon it will be too late.
“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.” ~Isaiah 55:6
