“But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ.” ~Romans 14:10
“Because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” ~Acts 17:31

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.” ~Revelation 20:11-12
So, is Judgment Day real—will we all be judged by Jesus one day? Yes, it is an absolute certainty that we will all stand before God on Judgement Day.
Those that are alive and love Jesus, as well as those that are dead in Christ, will be raised together and judged on His merit and not their own.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” ~John 5:24
However, those that do not accept Christ’s salvation and robe of righteousness will be judged on their own deeds, their sins will be exposed and not covered by Jesus’ righteous robe. They will be judged by what is written in the Book of Life, every single sin and wrong they ever committed. Just as it was in the day of Noah, it will be at Christ’s return. Non-believers will be caught unprepared.
”For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” ~Matthew 24:38-39
Upon Christ’s second coming, those that are still alive and believe in Christ, and also those that have died believing in Christ, will be raised together and will reign with Him for one thousand years in heaven.
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” ~1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
&
“. . . and they lived and reigned with Christ for the thousand years.” ~Revelation 20:4
But , those still alive upon the second coming who chose not to know the Lord or accept His sacrifice for salvation will die upon Christ’s return.
“And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse…” ~Revelation 19:21
And those who were dead in the grave, who knew Him not, will remain dead for the next thousand years as well.
“But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.” ~Revelation 20:5
After the thousand years has expired all the rest will be resurrected and will be judged by their sinful deeds.
"For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son" ~John 5:22
“Judge Jesus” wants to pardon all of us, He wants to take off His judge's robe and become our defense lawyer, our advocate to defend and cover us with His robe of righteousness for a total pardon. Wow, what an all-loving God we serve—to die in our place, take our punishment and then pardon us for all our wrongdoings just because He loves us so much. Without the sin-covering of Jesus’ righteousness we will stand with our sins exposed before the Judge of the Universe! Our Judge is watching us; He is continually pleading our case with Almighty God.
“Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” ~Romans 8:34
If we turn from evil and accept Jesus’s sacrifice for our redemption, God will not remember any of our evil ways, and all our sins will be blotted out from the Book of Life. We will then be covered with His perfect righteousness and found innocent of any sin. Think of it as a trade Jesus has made with us. He took our punishment and we get His perfection! We are no longer condemned by our sin...if we accept this gift.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” ~Romans 8:1
Do you want to go before the Magistrate of Heaven and represent yourself and plead your own case, or do you want Jesus as your attorney as well as your judge? We need Jesus to stand in our place when our name is called. We cannot defend our sinful lives all on our own. We will be condemned without Christ’s pardon because we are all 100% guilty. Those that do not know Jesus will be judged on their own sinful deeds!
"For many nations and great kings shall be served by them also; and I will repay them according to their deeds and according to the works of their own hands.” ~Jeremiah 25:14
How do you want to be judged? We get to choose if we want to stand on our own sinful merit, or accept the complete forgiveness of sin through the substitutional sacrifice of Jesus in our place, accepting His sinless life as our own. This is the biggest freewill choice any of us will ever make!
We need to understand that God has given us a way out of this whole sin mess, He’s had this plan since before He created us. Receiving this gift has nothing to do with anything we do or don’t do. It’s a free gift, a pardon from the Governor of the Universe. All we have to do is accept, and we will not be judged for our sins. We will stand solely on His merit, the perfect, sinless life of Jesus!
“Who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." ~1 Corinthians 1:8
