Are you living in faith or fear?

What does the Bible say about fear?

“This I declare, that He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I am trusting Him.  For He rescues you from every trap and protects you from the fatal plague. He will shield you with his wings! They will shelter you. His faithful promises are your armor. Now you don’t need to be afraid of the dark anymore, nor fear the dangers of the day; nor dread the plagues of darkness, nor disasters in the morning. Though a thousand fall at my side, though ten thousand are dying around me, the evil will not touch me.  I will see how the wicked are punished, but I will not share it. For Jehovah is my refuge! I choose the God above all gods to shelter me. How then can evil overtake me or any plague come near?”   ~Psalm 91:2-10 TLB

Fear will overtake us if we don’t stand firmly on the word of God. We must declare our total trust in Him and claim all of His promises! We need to learn what scripture says so every time something happens to provoke us into a fear reaction, even pandemics and plagues, we can lean solely on God’s faithful promises and know we are safe. We can pray for His mighty hand of protection, know He will provide, and choose no fear.

current fear

We can’t outrun or hide from an invisible enemy!

So many people are completely consumed with fear these days. Mostly fear of sickness and death. For the past three years, the media has been pushing the fear agenda. Everything from network news and social media to national health services is spewing fear and propaganda as to the certain death of this year’s respiratory virus. Even many churches are going along with this fear-mongering.

It’s no wonder people are so overcome with fear and trepidation a/k/a pandemic fatigue. All the entire world has heard for the past three years has been…stay home, don’t go to work, don’t go to church, don’t go outside, wear a mask, put antibacterial on your hands, don’t talk to others, stay six feet away from everyone, don’t shake hands or hug, don’t have public meetings, on and on and on. And the reason is to keep people in a state of fear—-fear of dying.

The Bible is clear on this type of fear intimidation. God states that nothing will harm us if we cling to Him, and do as He tells us in His pure, perfect word. If anyone, even your church tells you to do something contrary to what the Bible says, follow the word of God rather than man. The Bible and only the Bible must be our sole filter as to what is truth.

“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.”   ~Proverbs 30:5

The powers in control of the media are using fear to push everything from vaccines to cryptocurrency in order to sell their one-world government agenda. The Covid pandemic is just the first wave of the fear storm that Satan has planned for this world. There is much more coming according to Bible prophecies, and a global pandemic depression is just the very beginning.

The Bible predicts all these things must happen before the second coming of Christ. But does this mean we are meant to hide away overtaken by fear and worry? Or are we to step out in faith, live our lives in a Godly fashion, and do our very best to abide by the Bible to stay healthy? Aren’t we told to have faith in the infallible holy word of God and trust Him to keep up safe?

“Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place—the Most High, who is my refuge—no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.”  ~Psalm 91:9-10

God is very clear about His plans for us. He tells us in no uncertain terms what we are and are not to be doing, as well as what we are and are not supposed to be eating and drinking. Nowhere in the scripture does He tell us to consume toxic chemicals in any form, to ingest or inject them, inhale or smoke them. He tells us precisely what to do and not do in order to stay both physically and spiritually healthy.

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”   ~James 4:7

By submitting to God, we become willing to do things His way—do everything His way rather than the way of this misguided world. By refusing to entertain fear or temptation we are resisting Satan, and in doing so he has no hold on us and simply gives up…for the time being.

Fear is at the very core of our physical, mental, and spiritual health. Being in a state of fear depletes our autoimmune system, without which we will be unable to fight off sickness and disease.

God gave us an immune system that is recharged by eating clean fresh fruits and vegetables, drinking lots of clean water, and getting moderate exercise out in the fresh air and sunshine. Sleep is also a factor in renewing our immunity. It’s a proven fact that receiving your deepest sleep from ten o’clock P.M to two A.M. is more beneficial than sleeping all day.

God created our bodies. He knows exactly what we need, when we need it, and how much we need in order to have optimal health. So why is it that we seem to be doing everything opposite to what His word tells us? Because Satan has turned everything upside-down right from the beginning. Ever since He got Adam to sin he’s been leading man astray in order to cause as much pain and suffering as possible.

Let’s take a good, hard, long look into what the Bible has to tell us about all of the above. It all boils down to making a choice to either believe the word of God and live in faith or succumb to fear and allow Satan to control you.

Faith and Fear cannot coexist~

We’re going to start off with explaining exactly what faith is. Faith is the opposite of fear. Faith is believing what God says is absolutely true and will happen! The following verse is the biblical definition of faith.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”   ~ Hebrews 11:1

Faith is what we need in order to go into the word of God and be able to know that it is all true. Without feeding this belief system we will not be able to accept God’s words, rules, and commandments for what they are— a safety barrier to keep us safe.

So, how do we grow this thing called faith? According to the Bible, everyone is born with a portion of faith. We all have the same head start when it comes to the ability to believe the truths of the infallible word of God. All we have to do is have a desire to learn, and become willing to ask God for help. Once we engage His Holy Spirit we can open our Bibles with full confidence that we will acquire understanding.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”   ~Romans 10:17

As stated in the above verse, there is but one way to increase our faith, and that is to hear/read the word of God. Only by becoming emerged in the Bible can we grow our faith. The following Psalm is a blueprint of safety for us— a promise of protection as well as a guaranteed result of following His instructions.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”   ~Psalm 91:1-11

The above verses are the standard as far as the Bible goes. These sentiments are repeated throughout scripture from cover to cover. If we have faith in God to protect and care for us, He will. However, our faith in His power is the catalyst. He won’t force anything on us, not even His supernatural protection, we must believe. He will never take our free will away from us. We get to choose, faith or fear!

Now let’s go into the emotion called fear. The word “fear” is mentioned 500 times in the Bible, God also tells us to “fear not” over 365 times. Coincidently there are also 365 days in a year—that’d be one “fear not” verse for every day of the year!

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”   ~Isaiah 41:10

Giving into just the smallest fear allows the enemy to fill us with anxiety. It allows our imaginations to run wild fueled by thoughts of our demise. Nearly all fear is set into motion by our fear of death, and Satan knows it.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”   ~Psalm 27:1

Fear is the fuel Satan uses to get us to look away from God— to get us to look at him! Fear is never real, it is a delusion. The devil gets us to accept these delusions by scaring us with thoughts of a negative outcome. He leads us down the path of terror by suggesting the worst possible outcome in any given situation. Fear is simply an emotion fed by a negative thought. However, once we get on that fear train, it’s very difficult to get off.

“For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, Fear not, I will help you.”   ~Isaiah 41:13

The easiest way to avoid taking a ride on this torture train is to call to God the second our knees begin to shake. The very moment something happens to scare us we must call on Jesus. We have to accept that He is there, ready, willing, and able to help, no matter what is happening around us.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.”   ~Psalm 46:1-2

Life on earth as we know it is changing and will continue to change. We had better get a grip and choose to hold on to God’s promises. We are at a crossroads, we must decide which invisible emotion we will allow to consume us, faith or fear. We alone are in control of this choice. Every single human being is born with a portion of faith. It’s up to us to nurture and grow it or pull it out and throw it away, and just give in to the power of fear!

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”   ~2 Timothy 1:7

The closer we get to Christ’s return, the harder Satan will work to deceive us. The great deceiver doesn’t want us to become aware of his constant efforts to lead us astray. If we aren’t aware of his ability to have an effect on our lives, he will continue to confuse our minds and torment our bodies. He knows that all who neglect to pray and read the Bible will be overcome by his attacks.

Jesus will send His angels to protect us. The wicked one and his demons can’t overcome the guard that God covers His people with. The only way we are safe is to refuse fear in any form and stay continually connected to Him through faith-filled prayer and reading His word. On our own, we will fail...but with God, all things are possible!

“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”   ~Matthew 26:41
