“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come” ~2 Timothy 3:1
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” ~Matthew 5:17
Did Jesus really change God's law? Is that why He came to earth, to do away with the law? Jesus clearly stated in Matthew 5:17 . . .
“I did not come to abolish the law,
I have come to fulfill the law.”
Most modern-day Christians dismiss any need to keep the Laws and Commandments of God because they believe—Christ is the end of the law and that Jesus came to fulfill the law, therefore law-keeping will not earn your salvation.
Even though the last part of this statement is true—keeping the law will in no way earn your salvation . . . it in no way frees us from keeping the Commandments of God. Yes, our salvation was bought and paid for with the precious blood of Jesus on the cross. And our faith in His sacrifice is the only way to salvation, but this redemptive gift of forgiveness was in no way an eradication of the perfect law of God. We keep His law because we love Him, not to buy our salvation, but to honor the One who did.
Christ’s sacrifice does not give us the right to go our own way and live by our own standards. This thinking is exactly why the world is in the mess it’s currently in. All too many Christians think they can do whatever they want and it’s all good—all they are required to do is believe in Jesus and they’re covered.
We are seeing an increase in frequency as well as the intensity of natural disasters all over the world. The recent earthquakes in Mexico and Guatemala, the hurricane devastation of the Caribbean islands, as well as the extreme flooding in Texas, raging fires in Oregon, and now one of the worst hurricanes in history hitting Florida might make us begin to ponder this question. Why does God allow these things to happen when He could very well prevent them?
Here’s a bit of eye-opening truth…God is not to blame for these things! Sin is what has caused all of this planetary devolution to occur. We are living in a fallen world, a corrupted, deteriorating planet, along with everything on it. God is starting to remove His restraining hand from this world. So Satan is now unleashing his fury because he’s fully aware that his time is short. In the Bible God tells us of the coming of these end times events.

“But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!” ~James 2:18-19
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” ~1 Peter 5:8
“And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” ~Luke 21:11
“So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.” ~ Luke 21:31
The ultimate effect of sin is degradation. The falling apart of everything, from the breaking down of our physical bodies, (sickness, disease, pain, and suffering) to the degeneration of all existence, even the planet itself. The degeneration of everything . . . all living creatures, animals and even plants. As well as the worsening of the weather and increase of planetary devastation are all the byproduct and the effect of a broken and fallen world.
Can God stop it? Yes. Will He stop it? Yes, but not until every person has made their decision either for or against Jesus. Not until everyone has heard of the gift of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus, and have made their choice, will this mess finally come to an end.

“And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.” ~Mark 13:10
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” ~Matthew 24:14
So, how did Jesus fulfill the law? He kept the Commandments and didn’t break any of God’s Laws, that’s how. The word fulfill means: to put into effect, to achieve. Matthew 5:17 reinforces the fact that Jesus didn’t come to do away with, but rather to fulfill the Law of God. And He did just that, He kept them all! Jesus proved that His Commandments could be kept and that they are not a burden. He fulfilled them as a witness to all of humanity.
“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” ~1 John 5:3
The Bible is very clear on this type of convoluted thinking. Matthew 5:17 starts with these words, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law…” We can try to call a false belief Christian, but it’s still a lie in God’s eyes. There is only one truth, and that is the truth of the infallible word of God. God repeats throughout the Bible that we should stop following these strange beliefs, the beliefs that were taught generations ago. This is what false worship is all about—following after the gods of foreigners—playing the harlot a/k/a being unfaithful to God’s word. He warns us of the consequence of worshiping as these people worshipped, as well as predicting the end-times results of this disobedience.
“And the Lord said to Moses: Behold, you will rest with your fathers; and this people will rise and play the harlot with the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they go to be among them, and they will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.” ~Deuteronomy 31:16
The following are three verses found at the very end of the Bible in the New Testament that tell us in no uncertain terms to keep the Commandments of God. These key scriptures further tell us that one of the signs of God’s end-times people is Commandment keeping.
“And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” ~Revelation 12:17
The Bible is very clear on the order of end times events. Jesus tells us what will happen and how to be on guard so we will recognize these things when they happen. Anyone that knows their Bible understands that these things will, and must happen before the second coming of the Lord Jesus!
Jesus compares these excessive signs of the times to that of a woman going into labor, the earth must heave to and fro and this is the beginning of birthing pangs.
The apostle, Paul writes about the how and when all this will happen when he said . . .

“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” ~1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
The dragon in the above verse is Satan, and the woman is God’s faithful church. The only way for us to be faithful to God is to be faithful to His word. These next two verses reiterate this same attribute over and over, establishing God’s desire to communicate this most important act of obedience.
“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” ~Revelation 14:12
“Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”
~Revelation 22:14
Simply put . . . at the end of the age, the beginning of sorrows or birth pangs will take place. We need to know what the Bible says in order to understand that everything is happening right on time. God has predicted everything through His servants the prophets, and will see us through it to the end if we just hold tightly to Him!

“That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming?”~2 Peter 3:2-4
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.“ ~Luke 21:28
Are we in the last days…?
Jesus is revealing to us that His end-time saints will have the characteristics of faith and obedience, and in doing so, will be blessed.
Nevertheless, none of these verses sound like the Commandments of God were nailed to the cross or done away with. The only law that was nailed to the cross was the sacrificial law. Christ died once for all, He was the very last sacrificial Lamb. He embodied our sins on the cross, when He died, so did our death penalty. He became sin who knew no sin. It was our sins that were nailed to the cross in His body, not the perfect law of God!
You tell me. The following verses paint a pretty clear picture regarding every aspect of life as far as I’m concerned.
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” ~2 Timothy 3:1-5
“… In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” ~Jude 1:18ESV
”But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” ~Matthew24:37
”For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful.” ~Romans 1:26-31
”For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.” ~Matthew 24:7&21

”For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.” ~Matthew 24:21
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” ~2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus said: If you love Me…
The word keep in the following verses
is translated from the word obey.
So…If we love Him, we will obey Him!
In John 14:15 Jesus tells us if we love Him, we will keep His Commandments, and again in 14:21, and then again in 14:23, and yet again in 14:24. Seems kind of redundant…but it’s very clear that He is trying to make His point by repeating it over and over.
When Jesus cured someone He would tell them, I forgive you, I do not condemn you…go and sin no more. He didn't tell them to stop sinning to earn His forgiveness, He told them to stop sinning to prevent future problems in their lives. We obey Him because we love and trust Him, and know that He loves us.
“For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.” ~Hebrews 10:26-27
Christ died to obliterate our sins from history—permanently erase any memory of all our iniquities and wrongdoings. He paid the penalty for all our sin—the curse of death was the price. Jesus became the curse in order to restore the blessing of eternal life. He died so that we might choose to live with Him forever. It is nevertheless a choice we must all consciously make. We don't just fall into salvation—we choose.
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~Romans 6:23
It’s not too late to turn around, it’s a choice. We can turn and repent and learn anew. We can accept that the Bible is His word of truth and stop believing what we were taught. All we need to do is open His book, read and believe.
The harlot spoken of in the Book of Revelation is the unfaithful church that goes astray. Don’t get caught in this trap that Satan has set. Don’t go along with the majority of misguided Christians, but rather cling to the holy word of God as if your life depends on it…because it does!
All we have to do is accept Christ’s perfect life and sinless death as our way out of this misguided mess we’re currently in. We can accept His redemption at the cross for the gift of love that it is—the eradication of our sins for the chance of an eternity with our loving Creator. All we have to do is surrender our messed up thinking for the pure, perfect truth of His infallible word known as the Holy Bible, and stop believing all the lies that we’ve been told our whole life.
The following verse is Jesus speaking in response to a question. Interestingly, it's referring to the Ten Commandments, the first four commandments/laws are instructions as to how we are to love God—the next six are regarding our love toward man.
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” ~Matthew 22:36-40
To illuminate the correlation between the Old Testament and the New Testament, these verses in Matthew are actually derived from Deuteronomy 6:4-5 ”Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might." and also from Leviticus 19:18 "You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.”
We must cling to the Bible as our only source of truth, especially in these end times when nearly everything you hear is a lie. Have confidence that the word of God is true and powerful.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ~2 Timothy 3:16-17
Understanding that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament is at the very core of comprehending scripture — accepting the infallibility of His word through acknowledging that God never changes and neither does His word.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines.” ~Hebrews 13:8-9
Wouldn’t you say this sounds exactly how things are in this very day and age? There’s such an enormous surge in wickedness of every kind. Crime is running rampant, murder and rape are at an all time high. Sexual immorality, pornography, multiple sex partners, indulgence in unnatural lust/homosexuality/incest/ transgenderism, and abortion, as well as overindulgence in every possible thing. Pride and greed have become the all-consuming ruler of this present world.
Oh yes, I’d have to say we are most definitely heading into the last days. God tells us that once this order of event starts, it will not end until everything that God has predicted happens. And this is all the more reason to believe that soon Jesus will come again to execute judgment upon the evildoers and restore order, peace, love, and justice upon this earth.

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.“ ~Luke 21:25-28
“Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” ~Matthew 24:34
Clearly, the majority of the world is choosing to reject God and His grace filled offer of redemption. However, there is still time for you to choose to give your heart to Jesus. You will then receive the seal of God (Revelation 7:2-3) and be protected when the four winds are totally released and Satan has full control of this world. Oh yes, God’s people shall be delivered, that is a promise!

So in your article, you didn’t actually specify if you were addressing all 600+ laws of Moses to the Hebraic people or if you were speaking of the ten Moses brought down off the mountain… Thoughts?… gkj
The only laws that were done away with were the sacrificial laws. Why? Because Jesus died one for all. No more need to sacrifice lambs and goats for our sins. Yes, all of the rest of God’s laws are still in place, however, we are ONLY saved by God’s grace! Should we strive to keep the commands of God? Of course! Do we fail? yes! But this fact doesn’t mean that any of these commandments or laws were changed… the 1st Commandment that we shouldnt worship anyone but the living God hasnt been removed because Jesus died for our sins.. the 4th Commandment is still to rest and worship on God’s sanctified 7th day Sabbath, it wansn’t done away with either because Jesus died to save us… we still shouldnt kill, we still shouldn’t steal. We should still follow God’s dietary laws as well if we want to be healthy and avoid cancer and heart disease. Of course they are still extremely relavent. Hope this helps.
